INT(EN)
High pressure water chamber
Lubrication-free lead screw axes
for spray water application
Lanea Engineering is engaged in the development and manufacture of plants and machines, as well as special equipment for production processes. The company offers comprehensive solutions to improve the productivity of manufacturing processes and to shorten preparation times and production cycles.

The company needs lubrication-free components for its high-pressure water chamber in which various tests are to be carried out. With the help of such high-pressure water tests, the tightness and resilience of various objects and structures can be tested. High-pressure water testing devices are used in various industries. In the construction industry, for example, these are used to check the watertightness of pipes, tanks or containers. By generating high water pressure, the device can ensure that there are no leaks, ensuring the highest quality.

Profile

  • What was needed: Lubrication-free lead screw axis, pillow block  and aluminium shaft
  • Requirements: For testing in the high-pressure water chamber, products are required that are lubrication-free and can withstand large amounts of spray water.
  • Industry: Mechanical engineering
  • Success for the customer: Our lubrication-free lead screw axes, in combination with the pillow blocks and the aluminium shaft, ensure a robust and lubrication-free solution.

Problem

Lanea Engineering aims to drive technological milestones in the field of mechanical engineering with their developments. And we do it responsibly and with high quality.

For their high-pressure water testing device, they were looking for products that could withstand special requirements. The plan was to operate linear bearings in a high-pressure water chamber at more than 80°C. In addition to the high temperature, the components also have to withstand the spray water inside the chamber. It quickly became clear: ball-bearing linear solutions made of metal that needed to be lubricated were out of the question. What was needed were robust products that could withstand water and also required no lubrication or maintenance.

Solution

With the help of igus® components, Lanea Engineering was able to develop a solution that can withstand all challenges. The drylin® lead screw axes, pillow blocks with and without manual clamp, as well as strong aluminium shafts were used. From these, a tailor-made solution with XYZ movement and 360° rotation was developed for the application.

All components were particularly impressive because they do not require any external lubricants. This not only makes the products environmentally friendly, but also ensures that they are maintenance-free as no relubrication is required. Even the temperatures and use in an environment with spray water cannot harm the products. As there is no lubrication, no lubricants are washed away by water.
