What are slewing ring bearings?

iglidur® PRT slewing ring bearings are ready-to-install bearings for lubrication-free dry operation. The design is not based on metallic rollers or balls, but on maintenance-free sliding elements made of tribologically optimised iglidur® materials and rings made of lightweight anodised aluminium or stainless steel.

iglidur® The materials are universally applicable and can be used at high temperatures, in contact with moisture or chemicals and in the food industry.

Suitable for the food industry (FDA) and for daily cleaning with cleaning agents and high pressure. PRT slewing ring bearings are also an ideal solution for special applications with high temperatures of up to 180°C or ESD.
The rings are made of plastic, aluminium or stainless steel.

Krones AG relies on lubrication-free PRT slewing rings from igus®

The Linatronic 735 from Krones is used to check reusable bottles. Are there objects, smallest foreign bodies or lye residues in the bottles? Are there cracks in the glass or has something splintered? Are there dirt residues on the side? PRT slewing rings are used to open the Linatronic. They ensure lubrication and maintenance-free bearing points and make a significant contribution to hygienic design.

Rotating digital flip chart

The compact design of the PRT-02-30 makes it the ideal flip chart solution. Thanks to ready-to-install delivery and easy assembly. In addition, due to the plastic sliding elements made of iglidur material, maintenance work is no longer necessary after installation.

Personal robot

When upgrading a customer robot, an iglidur PRT slewing ring was incorporated in the axis for the first time. An iglidur PRT-02-20 is now used in the rear axis of the robot. In order to optimally meet the requirements of EEVE, igus designed a custom solution with reduced required drive torque. It ensures that the rear wheel can rotate freely even in harsh operating conditions and without any maintenance.

Insulation material cutter with iglidur® PRT slewing ring bearing

For the development of a 3D head that makes angled cuts and holes using a high-pressure water jet, a iglidur® slewing ring, PRT-01 with outer drive ring made of aluminium and sliding elements made of iglidur® J were used.
The success for our customer: an automatic insulation material cutter that cuts the insulation boards according to the CAD data.

The manufacturer of the coffee robot was looking for a maintenance-free slewing ring with low starting torque. PRT-04 slewing ring bearings from igus are now used in the dispensing system as they easily meet all requirements.

TV mount with iglidur® PRT slewing ring bearing

The PRT slewing rings can withstand a static axial load of 27,000 newtons and a dynamic axial load of 7,000 newtons.
The TV mount can also be pivoted, telescoped and rotated up to 360° at the same time. The mount impresses with innovative unique selling points such as freedom from lubricants to avoid contamination of technical devices, as well as freedom from maintenance and quiet operation for optimal comfort.
