From ocean plastic to motion plastics​
For the production of the bicycle wheels, igus uses specially built machines with lubrication-free and durable igus components. The plastic is moulded using a rotomoulding or rotational moulding process with low pressure and high temperature, which combines heat and biaxial rotation. The wheels are made from soft plastics such as polyethylene (PE). They can also be made to a large extent from recycled plastic waste such as discarded fishing nets. In this way, the mobility of tomorrow is to be created from yesterday's marine plastic.
