Maintenance-free plain and spherical bearings for solar thermal systems
Parabolic trough power plants, Fresnel collectors, solar tower power plants lubrication-free moves
A high level of direct sunlight and a consistently low level of cloud cover are crucial for optimising the energy yield of a solar thermal system. Desert regions in particular fulfil these criteria. We offer plain and spherical plain bearings for tracking systems that can withstand the harsh outdoor conditions and prevent downtime. Whether standard or customised special part: we will find the perfect solution for your system that is resistant to dirt, UV and temperature and enables low-noise operation without torque fluctuations. The bearings made from tribo-optimised plastic are characterised by extremely low friction coefficients, fit into small installation spaces and do not require any additional lubrication or maintenance.

Success stories
20 years of maintenance-free bearings
iglidur® plain bearings made of the material J UV ensure permanently smooth movement in around 1,000 bearing points of the Fresnel collectors from Ecotherm. The material was specially developed for use in UV radiation and is therefore durable even when exposed to sunlight and maintenance-free thanks to dry running.
Cheaper and more durable alternative to roller bearings
The parabolic mirrors from Mithras Holding are equipped with durable plastic plain bearings. Unlike rolling bearings, they require no maintenance thanks to the solid lubricants integrated into the material and are cheaper to manufacture.
