Lubrication-free and quiet knife edge rollers in conveyor system

The machine manufacturer KAZBI has been offering its customers solutions for food processing for over 20 years.
This application is a conveyor station from the supplier that uses a hygienic design to transport food from A to B, especially meat products. Trays or packaging are loaded with the product via a trough and then transported onwards.
Linear guides were used for the linear motion of the conveyor belt that loads the meat products into the packaging, but these had to be lubricated, which resulted in grease residues in the machine environment. As this was not acceptable in the area of food technology and the high hygiene requirements, an alternative solution was sought. The standard roller bearings in the machine also caused the problem. They were also unable to withstand the operating conditions, heated up quickly and generated loud noises during operation.

The customer found what they were looking for in our drylin product range. The drylin linear bearing technology replaces the previously used susceptible linear bearings and proves to be a low-noise alternative with a long service life. In particular, by dispensing with any external lubrication of the dry-running bearings, the customer saves on costly maintenance and achieves a hygienic design that easily fulfils the high industry standards. The ability to calculate the service life of drylin components for a specific application gives the manufacturer additional planning security.
The customer also decided to replace the rotary bearing elements - which had previously been fitted with PE or POM rollers - with our bearing technology. Specifically, the machine specialist now relies on knife-edge rollers made of iglidur A350, which, like the linear bearings, do not require any lubrication and are maintenance-free. This material is particularly suitable for high temperatures in food technology, which means that the previous problems of the rollers heating up are now a thing of the past.
