Multidimensional movements
The triflex® series from igus® GmbH, Cologne, was developed to realise a safe energy supply for multidimensional movements in space. It combines the manoeuvrability of a hose with the stability of an energy chain and its defined radii. As work is carried out under clean room conditions and in an air-conditioned environment, Bayer attached particular importance to ensuring that no particle slingers were used in the filling area!
triflex® R is a new system with several special technical features. A closed outer contour provides protection against dirt and grime. Due to its round design, it glides over the outer contour of the robot. This prevents it from catching and jamming.

The triflex® system shows its strengths wherever movements are made in more than two directions. These are primarily applications on 6-axis robots, which can be found in all environments in welding and painting applications and in gluing and sanding technology, for example. It is also used in Scara robots at extremely high speeds. Spring rods can be integrated into triflex® R in order to specifically integrate pretension. They give the energy supply a certain orientation and keep it away from interfering edges, for example.
