Plain bearing for reliable tipping mechanism of lorry in dirt and dust

• Success for the customer: While the previously used bronze bearings caused high costs in production and problems in the application, the iglidur® bearings are cost-effective, lubrication-free, quiet and resistant to dirt and dust.

The Brazilian company Librelato S.A. Implementos Rodoviários specialises in truck bodies, e.g. for tippers. The bearings for the attachments were also manufactured in-house, which for the company involved time-consuming purchasing, cutting and processing of the corresponding raw materials. The manufacturer also had to realise the channels for distributing the lubricants along the axis. However, the lubricating greases damaged the bronze plain bearings over time and produced unwanted noises during the tilting movement. Finally, there was also a problem with the accumulation of dirt around the bearing. All of these bearing vulnerabilities led to time-consuming and costly maintenance work, which is why the company started looking for a new bearing solution.

Librelato S.A. has since decided to completely replace its bronze bearing due to the costs and high susceptibility to dirt. This applied not only to the company's tippers, but also to all components where vibrating movements are carried out, such as reloaders or waste compactors. The customer currently requires around 500 pieces every 7 days.
The conversion has paid off: Today, Librelato not only has significant cost advantages with our iglidur ® plastic bearings compared to the bronze bearings produced in-house. 
The plastic version runs quietly in use and is completely lubrication-free. The latter saves the end customer a great deal of maintenance work and therefore many costs in the long term. Due to the quantity required by Librelato, special bearings with a special length were also developed and installed for this application.
