Reliably open pig gates

• Requirements: we were looking for bearing technology that could permanently withstand the high levels of corrosion in addition to the great volume of ammonia and dirt in the application.

• Success for the customer: igubal rod ends are durable and reliable in use. They are also maintenance-free and cost-effective.

This pig gate opens or closes the doors completely automatically. The gate itself consists of a tension spring and bearings for swinging the gate open and shut. Whenever a pig enters or leaves the enclosure, the tension spring opens or closes the gate. Due to the environmental conditions, however, the system was not very durable. The great volume of dirt and high ammonia levels in the pigsty affected the bearings used at the beginning so severely that they corroded over time. As a result, the door's tension spring was crooked and often broke. Therefore, a bearing solution was required that had a long service life and low maintenance requirements.

The solution was found in igubal rod ends, which are now responsible for the opening and closing mechanism. The important detail: the bearings are made of the material iglidur and are therefore completely resistant to corrosion. They are therefore perfect in combination with the stainless-steel spring. The bearings are also dirt-resistant and lubrication-free, making maintenance work a thing of the past. From now on, the stainless-steel spring is only loaded when it is straight, which makes it last longer.
