Corrosion-free bearings achieve over 10 years service life in manure spreader

• Success for the customer: The igubal® bearings were put to the test twice over a period of 100 hours each at -20 °C and under the effect of a block load of 4,000 N. The vibration-damping specifications as well as the high load capacity and corrosion resistance of the clevis joint contribute to this. They are also a cost-effective alternative to steel bearings.

The manure spreaders from RAUCH Landmaschinenfabrik GmbH, such as the AXIS 50.1 W model in this case, meter with the utmost precision when spreading fertiliser evenly in the field. All components used in the fertiliser spreader must be corrosion-free and designed for fertilisers with a high ammonia content. This also applies to the boundary spreading device, which limits the spreading area of the fertiliser to enable more targeted and efficient spreading. Here, clevis joints are used in combination with a KMF hydraulic cylinder, which must be able to withstand the adverse conditions over the long term.

The components used as bearings in the fertiliser spreader today are igubal ®-clevis joint made of plastic. They are combined with a KMF hydraulic cylinder in the boundary spreading device. The high demands placed on the solution in fertiliser technology are demonstrated by the dynamic test that the new system had to undergo. The boundary spreading system was put to the test twice over a period of 100 hours each time at - 20 °C and under the effect of a block load of 4,000 N. These simulated test conditions correspond to the load that the system would be subjected to within 10 years of practical use. The high service life can be explained by the vibration-damping specification as well as the high load capacity and corrosion resistance of the clevis joint. They are also a cost-effective alternative to steel bearings.
