3D printers for the production of industrial components

The 3D printers have a printing plate with a size of 500×450 mm and a height of 500 mm. The weight of the printed part varies depending on the material used. In addition, it is necessary for the printer to move with an accuracy of 5 µm.

Four slide bearings are required for the table to support its total weight, taking into account the size of the customer's machine. These requirements ensure that the application is stable and functional. In addition, the costs for the linear ball bearing guides used in the prototypes are to be reduced. The linear tables must be able to hold the printing plate even when the printer is switched off.

Another machine standstill was prevented by the linear modules of the SAW-1040 series and the iglidur® J bearings. These components contributed to the customer being able to fulfil its requirements and continue production.

The materials from igus® enabled an optimal process here: The linear module with the matching threaded spindle guarantees high stability. The spindle has a maximum load capacity of 2000 N radial and 500 N axial. And the polymer plain bearings made of iglidur® J prove their high load-bearing capacity - the table rests stably and reliably on the materials. They also exhibit extremely low coefficients of friction in dry operation. Their low stick-slip tendency also ensures low-friction movement, which benefits productivity.
