Automated wafer transport in cleanrooms

In modern semiconductor factories, silicon wafers undergo numerous process steps - from lithography and etching to doping and metallisation. These processes take place in different plants, which are often located far away from each other. Due to the strict requirements for cleanliness and freedom from particles, manual transport within the cleanroom is not feasible. Instead, automated material handling systems (AMHS) carry out the safe and efficient transport of wafer cassettes (FOUPs - front-opening unified pods) over long distances. One proven solution is the overhead hoist transport (OHT) - a rail-guided transport system that moves the FOUPs overhead and makes optimum use of cleanroom space.

In addition to transport, storage is also extremely important in so-called stockers. These systems place high demands on the energy and data supply. You need reliable energy supply systems for: the power supply to the OHT units, data transmission (e.g. Ethernet, sensor technology), safe cable guide in dynamic and often cramped cleanroom environments.

Abrasion-resistance is the decisive parameter for energy chain applications in cleanrooms. The C6 range of energy chains is setting new standards here. The abrasion is barely measurable. This is the best outcome: no abrasion can be measured when the new C6 cleanroom energy chain is used, even under high loads. Further advantages are extremely quiet operation and easy installation.

[NEU] Now also available with an inner height of 22mm. Optimised with crossbars every link in the outer radius and as standard with crossbars plus interior separation made of iglidur J, the best glide surface for every cable jacket or hose material. Furthermore, the side links are made of tribo-optimised low-wear dissipative ESD material as standard. The new assembly tool makes it even easier and quicker to open the chain.
