Linear unit surpasses required service life by more than Factor 2

In test number 428 of the igus® test lab, the wear quality of the special lead screw linear system was tested in a service life test. The special lead screw linear system was set up and tested in continuous operation with the following test parameters:

Test parameters:

Stroke: 315mm

Load: 250N (radial, centrical)

Speed: 0.22m/sec.

Pause time: 1 sec.

Lead screw: high helix thread, 10 x 25mm

Nut: SWZ-W-3008 (length 30mm)

Test setup: horizontal installation position Test setup: horizontal installation position

Test result:

Achieved cycle number until stop: 544,000 cycles

Axial clearance after test: approx. 0.6mm

Torque after test: 0.8Nm


The linear unit was still in function when the test was stopped.

Conclusion:

Linear unit surpasses required service life by more than Factor 2. Instead of the demanded 200,000 cycles, 544,000 cycles were achieved and the test was stopped.
