Maintenance-free pivot arm mounted in joining station

Profile

Produtek Weiskopf uses two injection moulding machines side by side in which plastic parts are moulded from three components. A joining station is located between the two machines. Here, the second component, a viewing window, is plugged into the basic component from the first machine. The assembled parts are then transported onto a cooling belt and from there finally into the second injection moulding machine, where the third, soft component is moulded.

Problem

The viewing window is plugged onto the basic component in the joining station by a pivot arm. The challenge here: since the freshly injected plastic parts are always slightly different, it is necessary to adjust the joining position. With a simple plug-in construction and adjustable fixing collars, Produtek has managed to dispense with a highly complicated joining mechanism. For the pivot arm, they were looking for a suitable bearing that would allow smooth movement, would last a long time and ideally would not require any maintenance.

Solution

Plastic flanged bearings made of iglidur X material are ideal for this application. The material is a true all-rounder that covers a wide range of requirements. The bearing works best at medium loads, sliding speeds and temperatures, has very good coefficients of friction and is resistant to dirt and dust. Like all our plastic bearings, no additional lubrication is required thanks to the solid lubricants contained in the material, which saves the usual maintenance effort.
