iglidur® N54 | The biopolymer based on recyclable raw materials
iglidur® N54 is the first iglidur® material based largely on biopolymers. In addition to the freedom from lubricants given for all iglidur® materials, this is a further step towards a positive environmental balance. The good coefficients of friction in conjunction with long service life ensure that this material has a permanent place in the iglidur® product range.

Tolerances and measurement system
The installation dimensions and tolerances of iglidur® plain bearings are a function of the material and wall thicknesses. For each material, the moisture absorption and the thermal expansion are decisive factors. Plain bearings with low moisture absorption can be designed with a minimal bearing clearance. The rule for wall thickness: the thicker the wall of the bearings, the larger the clearances must be.

Assembly
iglidur® plain bearings are press-fit bearings. The inner diameter adjusts only after press-fitting in the correctly toleranced housing. The press-fit excess dimension can be up to 2% of the inner diameter. This ensures the secure press-fitting of the bearing. Axial or radial movement in the housing are prevented this way.
