thyssenkrupp Elevator, one of the leading companies in lift technologies and services, has replaced conventional ropes with linear motors. The linear drive and the guide rod can rotate by 90°. One of the biggest challenges during implementation was the limited space available in relation to the amount of cable, both in terms of depth and rotational movement. In addition, the cables are subject to high requirements, such as shielding and small diameters and bend radii. The energy chains are being used for the first time in the lift sector for such an application. Two counter-running energy chains, running on a circular path and guided in a trough system together with the appropriate igus® cables, guarantee the necessary energy and data transmission to the rotating platform.
