Long-lasting energy chain systems

Energy chains from igus are very structurally stable and durable as they have proven their reliability in many applications under a wide variety of conditions. Around 10 billion e-chains cycles are carried out in the igus chain and cable laboratory every year. This is why we can say exactly how long an energy chain will last in an application.
Implemented in practice:

a service life of at least 20 years: energy supply system for innovative X-ray machine from GE Healthcare

The Discovery IGS 730 X-ray machine from GE Healthcare is not bound to the floor and can therefore be moved to the patient in any position. The E4.1 series e-chains were selected for the energy supply as it combines quiet operation with very high stability and durability.

Recommended long-lasting energy chains

10% stronger

e-chain E2.1 compared to E2/000 The robust all-rounder, easily openable. The strength of the E2.1 has been increased by a further 10% compared to the proven predecessor series.

20% stronger

e-chain E4Q compared to E4.1 Two vertically and two horizontally arranged stop-dogs per chain link ensure more rigidity in the E4Q, and thus enables larger unsupported lengths or higher fill weights. 20% stronger compared to the E4.1.

88% stronger

e-chain YE compared to E4.1 The hybrid energy chain YE is the best mix of lightweight plastic and strong steel that can easily handle high unsupported travels. 88% stronger for longer unsupported lengths and compact dimensions.

Four times more radial stability with the TRE.B version

triflex TRE.B compared to TRE Small modification with great effect. The modification of the spherical head in the chain link made it possible to increase the radial structural stability of the B version by a factor of 4 compared to the TRE version. This naturally had a positive effect on the service life of the chain. All of this without any price change.

Test lab of energy chain systems

Test laboratory for energy chains Energy chains are thoroughly tested. In linear movements of different lengths with travels of up to 240m and in vertical, circular or torsional movements. 53 test rigs on which 295 tests are simultaneously carried out are used to test e-chains for their stress resistance. In all, 4,100 tests totalling 10 billion cycles are performed every year.
