Corrosion-free bearings and energy supply systems for washing systems

Profile

  • What was required?: plain bearings, energy supply systems, cables
  • Requirements: plain bearings must work without lubrication, media-resistant energy chains and cables, suitability for long travels
  • Industry: railway technology - maintenance facilities
  • Success for the customer: media-resistant components with predictable service life

At washing systems for regional and express trains, igus components must show what they are capable of. Permanent use is combined with contact with water and cleaning agents. No problem for the igus components.  iglidur plain bearings are available in 50 different high-performance polymers. These include materials that were developed for contact with chemicals and media. As the plain bearing materials contain incorporated solid lubricants, additional lubrication is redundant. In particular with constant contact with dirt and cleaning agents, this is an important advantage. Furthermore, iglidur plain bearings are maintenance and corrosion-free.

To guide cables safely over long travels, energy supply systems by igus are used. In the e-chain product range there are models for both long travels and hanging applications. The energy supply systems contain cables for energy supply and hoses for water and de-icing agents. The interior of the e-chains is designed to increase the service life of cables and hoses despite frequent use. If chainflex cables are used, this will additionally increase service life. These cables have been developed explicitly for small bend radii and torsional movements. Particularly in washing facilities, the use of smart plastics energy supply systems and cables makes sense. These are capable of announcing need for maintenance early, so that downtime can be prevented.
