Maintenance-free driver's cab thanks to igus components

Profile

  • What was required? reliable bearings and power supply
  • Requirements: clean application, quiet
  • Products: plain bearings made of iglidur M250 and G, drylin W and drylin R linear guides, energy chains, chainflex cables
  • Industry: railway technology - controllers and switches
  • Success for the customer: maintenance-free bearings and no costs for further lubrication

In the driver's cabs of trains and trams, the control elements are equipped with different igus components. In drive or brake handles, drylin linear guides are used. They enable simple adjustment due to their sliding elements made of high-performance polymers. Bearings in control panels or the emergency brake are equipped with iglidur G plain bearings. The material iglidur G is the best-selling iglidur material worldwide. It impresses by its high wear resistance and at the same time it is cost-effective.

Driver's cab with different maintenance-free igus components

In modern driver's cabs, clean and quiet adjustment is essential for high comfort. Height-adjustable control panels and footrests add to this and fulfil the ergonomics standard. Here, dryspin lead screw drives are used to adjust control panels and footrests up and down. These are supplemented by energy chains for safe cable guidance and chainflex cables, which are particularly robust and guarantee a fail-safe data and power supply.

All igus components used made of iglidur high-performance polymers do without additional lubrication and are therefore maintenance-free. They contains incorporated solid lubricants and are self-lubricating. They were put to the acid test in the igus test laboratory and so enable a particularly high wear resistance. Based on the test laboratory data, their service life can be calculated with the free igus online tool.
