Reliable diving

These underwater robots reliably dive down and then up again. Because the electric motors, where the ball bearings of the original shaft were susceptible to corrosion, were replaced by iglidur® plain bearings and a stainless steel shaft. Because the motors are usually placed in sealed pressurized housing, which is filled with air for shallow water and with oil for deep water, the replacement of corroded bearings always proved a difficult and time-consuming undertaking. The iglidur® bearings now allow a maintenance-free drive for Remotely Operated Vehicles.
