Digitalisation and preservation of cultural assets
The book scanner
  • What was needed: A book scanner to digitalise cultural assets
  • Requirements:  Entirely free of lubrication and maintenance, maintenance-free dry operation, quiet, affordable
  • Material used: drylin® trapezoidal lead screw with matching lead screw nut in a special design made of the iglidur® W300 material
  • Success for the customer: Lubrication-free drylin® trapezoidal lead screw nuts are used in a book scanner for digitalising cultural assets. The book scanner scans the originals to be digitalised when they are placed on it with the side to be scanned facing up. They are then illuminated from above, photographed, and finally transferred to a connected computer. Because it is lubricant-free and features maintenance-free dry operation, a special nut made of iglidur® W300 with M4 metallic threaded inserts is used in this book scanner.
