Technical data

  • What was needed: A remotely controlled installation rover for installing and deinstalling warning spheres on power lines
  • Requirements: Dirt resistance, no lubrication, no maintenance, low friction, high rigidity, travel carriage stabilisation, no metal particle release, energy savings, affordability, good mass-performance ratio
  • Products used: dryspin® trapezoidal lead screws with matching plastic lead screw nut in trapezoidal thread, drylin® linear guide, and iglidur® plain bearing bushings

  • Success for the customer: The igus® solutions were applied to the installation rover's laying arm. The drylin® linear guide ensures high rigidity at low mass and stabilises the carriage. The low friction of the plain bearing bushings and linear guide saves energy when torque is transmitted through the polymer trapezoidal nut to the stainless steel lead screw.
