Trends and innovations: motion plastics® for mobility, transport and logistics

Plain and linear bearings, e-chains, cables and more for buses, trains, transport and commercial vehicles

We go into detail about mobility, transport and logistics, take a closer look at trends in these areas, and examine our innovations. We will concentrate on public transport, logistics with the so-called "last mile" concepts or the now ubiquitous topic of e-mobility with a special focus on plug-and-play systems. We will also cast a look into the future of parcel delivery.

Commercial vehicles

Friction, wear, vibration, moisture and dirt are just some of the diverse requirements that must be considered when choosing the right bearing product in commercial vehicles. From vans to articulated lorries or from dump trucks to trailers, the challenges can vary greatly. With our new products for commercial vehicles - whether used in the driver's cab or in the exterior - we are adding our product portfolio with strong, thick-walled or exceptionally chemical-resistant bearing products, for example.

Addition to the plain bearing product range for utility vehicles

  • iglidur M260 for pivoting applications, especially with shafts made of HR carbon steel
  • igutex TX2 developed for extremely harsh environments as well as dirt and dust
  • High-strength iglidur H5 with high chemical resistance and other plain bearings ...

Passenger transport

It doesn't matter whether bus or train. The choice of the appropriate plain, spherical or linear bearing can later make much more than a difference in service life. Safety aspects, such as choosing the right heat-resistant bearing in train and tram brakes or comfort issues when adjusting seats in the passenger compartment, are also in the foreground. There is also the question of economic efficiency. With a wide range of products, we offer the right bearing product or energy chain for every requirement, installation position and means of transport.

Media-resistant, robust plain bearing iglidur H5

  • Resistant to shocks and impacts as well as suitable for edge pressure
  • Suitable for use in corrosive environments and high impact loads
  • Lowers costs by reducing premature failures and maintenance requirements

E-mobility and sustainable products

The much-discussed recyclable material plastic can make a contribution to protecting resources and the environment. In addition to our chainge program for recycling disused plastic energy chains, we have also been offering products made from regranulate since 2022. Since this year, our new "ECO" plain bearings are also accompanied by the world's first recyclable energy chain, the "cradle-chain", which also marks its entry into the automotive industry. Also new to the product range is a cable retraction system for a more organised and tidy electricity charging station.

Design study: Cable retraction system for the charging station

  • Solution for automatic cable rewinding, e.g. at electricity charging station
  • Long extension lengths in a small installation space with automatic retraction
  • Prevent cable clutter on the floor and cable damage
  • Can be combined with all commercially available wallbox systems

Logistics and "the last mile"

What do linear robots look like that enable automated removal and storage of parcels in delivery vehicles? And how exactly do bearing products in drones and cargo bikes help optimise impact resistance, service life and weight in "last-mile" delivery?
We present possible answers to these questions with well-known and new products from our Low Cost Automation areas or our iglidur and igubal bearings.
In the video on the right, we also show what a parcel delivery of the future might possibly look like, how parcel drones can be integrated into the delivery vehicle and which products we use for this.
What a parcel delivery of the future can possibly look like and how do our products help with that? Watch the video to find out more.

XXL room linear robot for parcel handling

  • Reliable and flexible loading and unloading of pallets with weights of up to 10kg
  • Conceivable together with drive technology and energy chains for logistical processes in delivery vehicles
  • Other applications of linear robots: Pick & place, conveyor belt picking, stacking tasks and much more.
