Front loader test rig

Wear if pivoting, single trip mode

Lubricated steel bushing on 42CrMo4 shaft Pivot angle: 48°; load: 29.5MPa

Test result

Although iglidur J is not a typical "heavy duty material" given its maximum permissible surface pressure of 35 Mpa, its results in this test on a soft stainless steel shaft were very good. A good example of why a high permissible static surface pressure is not necessarily a useful indicator of wear resistance in dynamic applications. The metal-rolled bearing (permissible static surface pressure > 100 MPa) also displays a relatively low amount of wear in spite of the fact that harder surfaces are better for this type of bearing. However, the picture shows that the gliding layer on the inner diameter surface has already been partially worn away. This fact could have an adverse effect on the service life.
