Have gears 3D printed

Three steps get you from design to durable gear

You may have a gear CAD model handy, or you may know only the dimensions, but either way, our free, no-registration online tool enables you to order a customised, durable gear within a few minutes.
Design a gear CAD in the configurator

Design a gear model

Our free CAD configurator enables you to design gears in less than 60 seconds. Just download the STEP file for further processing for 3D printing. You can find out more about configuration in the instructions for the gear configurator.
Configure the gear here
Calculate service life of gear

Calculate service life of gear

Given the application parameters, how long will the gear last? Just enter all application data (speed, load, counter partner, etc.) and determine the service life. More about service life calculation.

Have a gear manufactured according to dimensions or drawing

You can have durable gears made of self-lubricating high-performance polymers manufactured in the igus 3D printing service. Manufacture takes just one to three days, and in urgent cases can even be completed overnight. There are no tool costs or minimum order quantities, so batches of up to 10,000 complex gears can be manufactured to economic advantage.

In addition to the 3D printing service, we offer useful services for gear manufacture:
► If you already have a finished 3D model, you can use the gear service life calculator to check how long the service life of your gear made out of iglidur materials will be given the application parameters and to make necessary adjustments.
► If you don't have a CAD model yet, you can design gears in just a few clicks and less than 60 seconds in the online CAD configurator.

3D printed gears made of iglidur high-performance polymers

► Predictable service life
► Any geometry possible: special shapes and replacement parts
► Optimised tooth root geometry for longer service life
► Self-lubricating: dry running thanks to solid lubricants

Last up to five times longer than regular polymer gears
Tested and proven: gears made of iglidur have a considerably longer service life than machined or injection-moulded gears made of conventional plastics.

What material is better for which type of gear?

  • iglidur i3  is characterised by higher strength, is especially well-suited for spur gears and helical-bevel gears, and can be used  for all other kinds of gears.
  • iglidur i6 has optimised sliding properties and is therefore ideal for worm gears or other gears where conformity with food standards is required
  • iglidur i8-ESD is suitable for gears where ESD properties are necessary, e.g. for ATEX
