Go to tesa scribos®:The company is an expert in the field of pioneering adhesive solutions such as counterfeit and theft protection in the form of adhesive seals. The goal of tesa scribos® was to find cost-effective and maintenance-free ball bearings that are used in guide rollers. There the function of a deflection in the pressure roller before an intermediate drive should be performed.

The pressure roller is set with a defined compressive strength on the drive roller. The combination of guide roller and intermediate drive not only serves to drive the product, but also creates web tension in the material, whereby different wrap angles can be set on the intermediate drive by means of the variable position of the guide roller. The different coatings of the rollers serve to protect the material as well as to improve material handling.

Problem

In the past, metallic ball bearings were used, which could only achieve low rolling friction with appropriate lubrication. The tesa scribos® was looking for a ball bearing solution that offered an optimised savings potential, not only in terms of maintenance and weight, but also in price.

Solution

The now used xiros plastic ball bearings from igus® are half the price and available faster than the previously used ball bearings. The user also benefits from the lightweight, the low friction and the freedom from lubrication of the plastic ball bearings.
