Why choose igus® as a shaft supplier?
A bearing system includes, as well as the plain bearing, the shaft and its surface finish. The objective is to provide the ideal material to optimize the coefficients of friction, corrosion and service life for our customers. For this reason a design range consisting of 8 shaft materials and 29 plain bearing materials are available.
What are the advantages of the different shafts?
Two examples; igus® aluminium shafts provide low weight and long life, and igus® 316 stainless shafts give extremely high resistance to corrosion and chemicals. Also the prediction of the lifetime - based on numerous tests - enables the determination of the optimum bearing-shaft combination. Thus the customer gets the long-lasting linear bearing solution for their specific application.
Do you supply individually machined shafts for customers?
As well as the usual, hardened standard shafts made of steel and stainless steel, we can also individually machine all other shaft materials to a customer drawing.
