Welcome to Graz!
Monday, 29.06.2009, 22:45You are reading the blog of Team B-Smart from the RoboCup 2009 competition in Graz. We duly arrived on Sunday in the evening and used the day to set up our system. As one of the first teams we're using the new official SSL-Vision for image processing, which is one of the goals for the next years in the Small-Size-League (SSL). With this step we want to support the league, particularly with regard to the fact, that other teams seem to be more skeptically with such major changes. The intention behind this is to simplify the league entry for new teams. The so gained resources can be used to improve tactics and to develop new robot hardware.
Since our team mostly consists of experienced members, the setup day was quite constructive. For this reason we were able to play an exhibition match against the official world champion, Plasma-Z from Thailand. The spectators enjoyed an eventful match which ended by 1-1 draw due to the large amount of scoring chances we had. We were able to extract valuable insights, which are helpful to improve our system step-by-step.
Before we engage in our first official RoboCup 2009 match, we are hoping to participate in another exhibition matches where we can gain more experience.
