Accumulating conveyor

Main criteria for the application

Extreme loads

maintenance free

Short linear strokes and changing pivoting angle under various impact loads are the demands on plain bearings made of iglidur® G. In the accumulating roller conveyor, this could be achieved moreover without maintenance and fully dry operation. Cost advantages over metallic bearings and freedom from corrosion were additional reasons for using them.

No lubrication of the bearing points necessary

FFT Produktionssysteme GmbH & Co. KG was looking for maintenance-free plain bearings for an accumulating conveyor belt. This accumulating conveyor is used to guide parts in processing lines and is used to link different areas of the plant. Metallic plain bearings were therefore out of the question due to lubrication and the associated maintenance, so it was decided to use igus plain bearings made of high-performance polymers.

The special feature of the iglidur materials is that they can be used without maintenance and lubrication, as the material contains solid lubricants. They lubricate iglidur plain bearings independently and thus reduce the friction. They are distributed throughout the material in the form of microscopic particles.

By using iglidur plain bearings, FFT Produktionssysteme GmbH & Co. KG offers its customers a clear advantage: the plain bearings additionally reduce the maintenance effort of the accumulating conveyors, thus reducing maintenance-related downtimes. In addition, there is no risk of failure due to insufficient lubrication.
